CAO Nicaragua Master Blender Rick Rodriguez and the CAO blending team have created a distinctive tribute to the Central American country with the CAO Nicaragua. At the heart of this cigar is a selection of Nicaraguan Jalapa, Estelí, and Condega leaves, blended into a spectacular filler that captures the full intensity of the country’s signature flavors. Rick Rodriguez explains: “For CAO Nicaragua, the team and I wanted to bring the essence of Nicaraguan tobacco to life. That’s why we selected a composition that represents three different microclimates and three distinct taste profiles.”
First: The tobacco grown in Estelí is stronger and significantly more complex than that from other regions. These leaves give the cigar body and dimension. Second: North of Estelí lies Condega, where the soil is rocky and rich in minerals. This results in a medium-bodied tobacco with peppery notes and hints of nuts. Third: On the border with Honduras grows smooth Jalapa tobacco, which blends excellently with other varieties. The result of it all: notes of pepper, along with nuances of nuts and toast. Taste: Subtle, with an earthy tone and a hint of pepper.
