Arturo Fuente Why the name »Rainforest Delight«? »Delight« speaks for itself—after all, it’s a Fuente. »Rainforest« refers to the wrapper leaf, an authentic Cameroon. Since the mid-1990s, the Meerapfel family has successfully cultivated stunning wrapper leaves under very challenging conditions. Up to 5,000 employees carefully tend the plants, which grow and thrive on approximately 3,000 fields. Many of these fields lie deep within the rainforest, making it a huge challenge to transport equipment and supplies to these remote areas with little or no infrastructure—without harming nature in the process. This has been Rick Meerapfel’s greatest commitment from the very beginning. Thanks to his persistence, tobacco farming and nature coexist in harmony in Cameroon, resulting in some of the world’s finest wrapper leaves coming from this region today.
Cameroon wrappers are renowned for their delicacy. They are not suited for aggressive fermentation; it is their elegance that inspires many cigar makers. These wrappers are highly aromatic without being overpowering, perfectly balanced with notes of cinnamon, baking spices, cocoa, and nuts, often accompanied by a very pleasant balance of sweetness and pepper. For these reasons, the Fuente family has historically built some of their flagship cigars around the wonderful Cameroon wrappers—such as the Don Carlos, »8-5-8«, and the legendary »Hemingway«. The »Rainforest Delight« arrives in an elegant slim panatela format. With a ring gauge of 33, it allows the Cameroon wrapper to truly shine. The filler and binder from the Dominican Republic are expertly blended to let the extraordinary sweetness of the wrapper take center stage. Over the years, the Meerapfel family collected leaves that were too small to wrap a Don Carlos but have matured for many years—and you can taste that maturity. Despite the small ring gauge, the »Rainforest« Delight never develops harshness and can be enjoyed leisurely until your lips nearly burn. Its moderate strength makes this wonderful slim panatela a pleasure to smoke throughout the day.
Taste: The filler and binder from the Dominican Republic are expertly blended to let the extraordinary sweetness of the wrapper take well-deserved precedence. All wrappers have been aged for several years, and it shows in the flavor. Despite the small ring gauge, the cigar never develops harshness and can be enjoyed in a relaxed, smooth smoke.
