Last summer, Rafael Nodal put on one of his beloved jazz records—the unmistakable sound of Duke Ellington was already making his feet tap, the spirit of the Roaring Twenties almost palpable—when he suddenly paused in awe. In that moment, it became crystal clear to him that his latest premium creation from Tabacalera de Garcia would be a tribute to that fabulous decade. And so, the “Capitol” was born. Thanks to Rafael’s remarkable connections, he was able to bring none other than Nestor Plasencia on board for the “Capitol”—one of the world’s most renowned cigar producers, known for crafting legendary cigars.

The “Capitol” confidently channels the spirit of the 1920s. Its cigar band and box are adorned with an Art Deco building—evoking an era where women in golden dresses and a lively Charleston would fit right in. The cigar opens with a smooth and creamy profile, offering subtle earthy notes with a touch of sweetness. In the second third, Plasencia’s signature becomes even more pronounced. It develops a spicier, earthier character, enriched by wonderful cedar aromas. The final third entices with intense tobacco flavors, still accompanied by a lovely creamy sweetness.

Capitol, the exclusive premium puro brand made from 100% of the finest Nicaraguan tobacco, is expanding its existing lineup. Until now, the brand consisted of three elegant vitolas: Jack, Casino, and Gala. Now, a new, smaller format is joining the Capitol family. The new Capitol Swing features a ring gauge of 44 and a length of 130 mm. Just like its larger counterparts, the Swing is distinguished by intense flavor, complexity, bold spiciness, and a nuanced aroma.

This latest creation is once again the work of the renowned Master Blender Rafael Nodal. The cigars are produced at Plasencia Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua, one of the country's most prestigious cigar manufacturers. The tobacco leaves used for this premium puro rank among Nicaragua’s finest, giving this format a remarkable elegance and uniqueness.
