With the Dios del Sol we are celebrating a true milestone here at Kopp Tobaccos. Not only is it our very first in-house cigar, but it also marks the beginning (el principio) of an exciting journey through the best tobacco regions of the world. The driving force behind the Dios del Sol is Oliver Kopp, who turned this vision into reality with great passion, dedication, and countless hours of work. Especially the search for the right producer and the loving detail given to the design were projects very close to his heart. That in the end a cigar emerged which harmoniously unites tradition and modernity, fills us – and him – with immense pride.

Dios del Sol, the Sun God, is found in all Central American cultures. He is the embodiment of beginnings, of life, and of positivity.

He can be found carved in stone on pyramids, temples, and stone calendars, and is one of the most important deities of the indigenous peoples.
 

The Dios del Sol takes you on a journey back to the times when the Maya, Inca, Aztec and Taínos smoked simply rolled tobacco leaves in their ceremonies to connect with their deities. Thousands of years later, tobacco finally found its way to Europe and can now be enjoyed in the form of a Dios del Sol.

About two years ago we set out to find a home for our very first cigar line. We succeeded with one of the oldest and most renowned families in the cigar world. According to our wishes, they composed a fine little Honduran masterpiece. After more than a year of aging in the aging room, the aromas of the bright Connecticut wrapper from Honduras, the binder – a Honduras Broadleaf – and the filler tobaccos from the Jamastrán Valley in Honduras and from Jalapa in Nicaragua, have wonderfully melded together. And this harmony is hard to surpass.

The Dios del Sol delivers a blend that excites your palate at any time of the day and never loses its fascination. The Dios is creamy, slightly spicy, full of aroma, and offers a pleasant sweetness. All of these attributes are harmoniously balanced, making our Dios del Sol a delight until the very last puff.
