E. P. Carrillo Behind the E.P. Carrillo brand stands none other than Ernesto Perez Carrillo, one of the most talented and creative master blenders of our time. Born in Cuba, tobacco was quite literally part of his heritage from the very beginning. However, Carrillo initially chose a different path, pursuing his passion as a jazz musician before entering the cigar industry. His career in premium cigars began in 1990 at his father's company, El Credito Cigar Company. Demand for the brand skyrocketed almost overnight following an outstanding rating in Cigar Aficionado magazine, combined with the cigar boom in the United States. In 2000, Carrillo sold the company but remained on board as Master Blender until 2009. Seeking new challenges, Carrillo wanted to prove to himself that he could succeed without the support of the cigar boom or the foundation laid by his father. In 2009, he founded EPC Cigar Co. together with his son and daughter. Success came quickly. It is no coincidence that he is widely known as "The Godfather of Boutique Cigars." His exceptional talent is reflected in acclaimed cigar lines such as New Wave Connecticut, INCH Natural, and La Historia, all of which have earned high praise from both the cigar press and aficionados around the world.
