For cigar legend Eladio Diaz, the art of blending extends far beyond his everyday work. Since turning 50, he has followed a personal tradition of creating a unique cigar blend for each of his birthdays. For many years, these private creations were never commercially available and could only be received directly from the master blender himself.

All tobaccos used for this Churchill originate from the Dominican Republic, with the southern part of the country playing a particularly important role. Both the wrapper and part of the filler come from this rarely represented tobacco-growing region. During the 1970s, many farmers in the south changed their agricultural activities, causing tobacco cultivation in the region to virtually disappear. With its higher elevations and highly diverse soils making cultivation more challenging, Dominican tobacco production became increasingly concentrated in the north.

Eladio Diaz embraced this challenge and brings these rare southern tobaccos back into focus with the 72 Aniversario. Its exceptional Corojo wrapper from the south was carefully aged for four years before being selected for this limited edition. Beneath it lies an equally unusual binder: Mexican San Andrés tobacco cultivated in the Dominican Republic. All filler tobaccos are also of Dominican origin.
