E.P. CARRILLO PLEDGE PURPLE – The Next Expression of the Pledge
With the Pledge Purple, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo continues the story of his celebrated Pledge series. The original Pledge made a major impression in 2020, when Cigar Aficionado awarded it 98 points and named it Cigar of the Year. For the Pledge Purple, Perez-Carrillo returns to a defining element of that original composition: an H-2000 Seed Connecticut wrapper from Dunn & Foster that was allowed to mature in his factory for nearly a decade.

Beneath this extensively aged wrapper is a Mexican binder surrounding Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí, Condega, and the volcanic island of Ometepe. Together, these tobaccos provide structure, spice, and multi-layered depth, creating a full-bodied and complex profile while maintaining a sense of balance throughout.

 

The Pledge Purple also makes a distinctive visual statement. Its characteristic box-pressed format is paired with the collection’s striking purple presentation, emphasizing the individual identity of this special release. Rather than simply being an anniversary variation, it stands as a new interpretation within the Pledge family.

Handcrafted in the Dominican Republic, the Pledge Purple is limited to just 3,500 boxes worldwide. Of these, only 196 boxes are allocated to the German market, making it a particularly limited release from E.P. Carrillo.
