VILLIGER 1888 San Andrés
Mexico shines in yellow
VILLIGER SÖHNE is bringing the VILLIGER 1888 San Andrés to Germany. Following its much-publicised launch in the USA in summer 2026, it is now also available in Germany and Switzerland. The new line complements the established VILLIGER 1888 family and offers the strongest profile in the range so far.
Yellow reflects its origins
The cigar's origins are also reflected in the design of this line. Both the cigar band and the box shine in a striking yellow. The colour is inspired by the houses of San Andrés Tuxtla in Mexico, where it can be seen on facades, doors and walls. Even the cathedral and town hall feature this shade. Yellow accompanies visitors as they walk through the streets of this Mexican town.
A new chapter for the VILLIGER 1888 family
Every cigar in the 1888 line follows a clear philosophy and bears the company's founding year. These cigars are flagship products that express decades of tobacco expertise, high manufacturing standards and the responsibility of a family-owned business.
In 2008, VILLIGER introduced its first premium long-filler cigar bearing the family name and founding year. The red VILLIGER 1888 from the Dominican Republic has featured a Mexican binder since its launch. The blue VILLIGER 1888 Nicaragua was previously the newest addition to the range. Its Pennsylvania filler tobacco gives the cigar its aromatic character, earning it an impressive 91 points from the Cigar Journal tasting panel.
Now the third series has arrived: the VILLIGER 1888 San Andrés. It follows the line's concept, using colours inspired by the distinctive characteristics of each country or region. The dark brown San Andrés wrapper from Mexico creates a striking contrast with the yellow cigar band. The wrapper defines the cigar's character and contributes to a rich, flavourful smoking experience.
The entire series is hand-rolled at the VILLIGER de Nicaragua factory in Estelí.
The Robusto, Toro and Churchill formats are being presented to the international trade audience at InterTabac. The cigars are available in boxes of 20 as well as convenient cases containing 3 cigars.
