Lunatic JFR Classic When the JFR line arrived on the cigar scene in 2005, it was only intended to be sold in retail stores. The letters J, F and R stand for Just For Retailers. The JFR Lunatic, an extension of the original line, was presented by Aganorsa Leaf. Released in 2014, the Lunatic was so named because, according to Aganorsa, “you have to be a little crazy to smoke these cigars.” Some of the cigars in the line are rolled with an 80 ring gauge. Crazy? Perhaps a little extreme, but the JFR Lunatic Short Robusto seems to be a slightly more sensible approach to smoking, with a ring gauge of 52, which is downright slim in comparison.
The Lunatic JFR is produced by Aganorsa Leaf in Estelí, Nicaragua. With the exception of the Ecuador H-2000 wrapper, all the tobacco in the Lunatic line is made from the exquisite leaves of Aganorsa. This agricultural conglomerate has an impressive collection of tobacco plantations that extend throughout Nicaragua and are under the management of Eduardo Fernández. Taste: The cigar delights with deep, nutty aromas and unfolds precise notes of cashew and walnut, which unfold wonderfully on a core of coffee beans.
