Eladio Diaz
71st Anniversary
We all know, Eladio Diaz needs no introduction. There are few in our world who have reached such legendary status.
Eladio Diaz has spent his entire life in the world of cigars. A career spanning decades, with the first part culminating in a 30-year tenure at Davidoff, which ended in 2021. During those 30 years, he served as Production Manager and Master Blender, among other roles. He was responsible for creating Davidoff’s unicorn, the Oro Blanco.
At the end of Part 1, Eladio decided to start a new chapter with his wife and sons by opening his own factory. The Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera was born.
Tobacco legend Eladio Diaz celebrates his 71st birthday. Once again, he shares this milestone with us through a special birthday blend. For his 71st, he spared no effort and, as he stated in a press release, created one of the best blends he has ever developed. Smoking this cigar, he says, feels like entering another dimension, speaking with the gods, and listening to heavenly music.
As if that weren’t enough, the Eladio Diaz 71st Anniversary Toro delivers a medium-strength smoking experience with a balanced spiciness, accompanied by sweetness, coffee, and cocoa notes that create a delicate smoke.
This birthday cigar is wrapped in a Corojo 99 leaf from Ecuador. Beneath that lies a binder from San Andrés, Mexico. The filler includes Dominican Corojo, H-2000, and barrel-aged tobacco.
At the age of 71, Eladio is breaking new ground by using tobacco from San Juan de la Maguana and Las Matas de Farfán for the first time, a region southwest of the well-known growing areas of Santiago and Mao.
This region, near the border with Haiti, is said to have a very high pH level in the soil, which according to Diaz results in stronger tobacco and creamier smoke.
