Manufacturer Description:
The Malcolm Flake is a pipe tobacco at the highest possible premium rates. Burley from Malawi and Virginia tobaccos from Brazil and Africa set the tone and be complemented by something dark fired Kentucky. After the flake was carefully pressed under heat, giving him a week before it is cut. The exotic pineapple aroma makes this flake to taste a miracle.
Characterisation:
The Malcolm Flake is quite thin and accurately cut into narrow slices and is stacked neatly in the box. The predominant color of the tobacco is a darker brown, with many golden speckles. The consistency is neither too dry nor too wet and the Flake exudes a pleasant, fairly strong aroma of pineapple, while the dark Kentucky is to sniff in the background.
Plugging:
The Malcolm Flake is perfectly conditioned and can be placed in the pipe without problems. It is flexible enough to be bent and folded. But it can also be rubbed out and plugged as a Mixture. As with any flake you should be careful to ensure that it is not plugged too firm into the tobacco chamber of the pipe, because the tobacco rears up slightly by the heat when lighting. Leftover crumbs or plucked off remains of and tobacco are well suited as "accelerant" for the flame of the match.
Light up:
If you use some sort of attention, the Malcolm Flake can be ignited easily. Just slightly flatten the surface after the first kindling with the tamper, relighting it and it burns to the end of the filling easygoing.
Smoking properties:
The Malcolm Flake reveals its flavor not the thoughtless smoker on the side. It wants to be enjoyed consciously. A gentle draft has more pleasent taste then a violent draft. Smoked in this way it reveals a gentle lemony sweetness, reminiscent of candied pineapple. This interacts great with the savory spiciness of the Kentucky and the soft cream of the Burley. The Flake tastes very round and balanced, whereby one should not underestimate the strength of the tobacco. Despite all of its pleasantly behaviour, it is tending to the stronger side. If smoked with due attention, the Malcolm Flake leaves only gray ash with a few unburned darker crumbs and the cleaning is easy done.
Redolency:
The Malcolm Flake smells in the air just sweet and of genuine tobacco, without being intrusive. So in society where smokers are welcome, it would be not very noticeable.
Conclusion:
The Malcolm Flake is an accurate cut, dark brown Flake, with golden speckles. Its appetizing fragrance reveals the pineapple flavor, but it is not a high aromatic without the taste of tobacco. With its clean finish, it can be plugged easily and enjoyed with a little attention even by beginners. But due its not to be underestimated strength its not a recommended exercise object for beginners in the world of tobacco flakes. Who is experienced in stronger tobaccos, gets a mild-sweet flavor that is not glossed over the basic taste of the powerful Kentucky and softer Burley, but pleasantly underscores it.
