Serengeti:
The White Elephant Serengeti combines a good portion of Black Cavendish with a Broken Virginia and fine Burley Cube Cuts. The naturally sweet Virginia is supported by a fruity cactus aroma. It's a small miracle that such an inhospitable-looking plant produces such a sweet aroma!
Characterisation:
The Serengeti is wrapped in a paper rosette in a round tin. If you lift the cover sheet, you can see bright, broad and flaky tobacco, black-brown fibers and a fine, long-cut, brown-gold Ready Rubbed. The scent rises intensively to the nose and is reminiscent of sweet fruits, which is certainly thanks to the aroma. If you loosen the tobacco, you will notice a trace of residual moisture, so you should let the Serengeti dry briefly before you start plugging.
Plugging:
The Ready Rubbed content makes it advisable to carefully plug the Serengeti. But that doesn't mean excessive work. You just have to be careful not to pack it too tightly so that the compressed parts of the tobacco can unfold. Loosely filled and finished with gentle pressure, nothing stands in the way of a good burn.
Light up:
After a short drying time, the Serengeti can be ignited easily. The fibers do rise a bit, but if you gently smooth them with the tamper after the first flame, you can create a lasting glow with the second flame.
Smoking properties:
The Serengeti immediately shows a lush smoke. However, it is rather delicately flavored and not too heavy. In fact, you can taste the selected Virginias in the aromas of fresh bread. These are accompanied by hints of mildly roasted nuts, in which you can recognize the Burley. The accompanying sweetness rounds off the full-bodied smoke of the Serengeti in a pleasant way, but is not overpowering. Likewise the aroma. This is delicately fruity and lasts a noticeably long time. But it doesn't drown out the basic tobaccos. After an inconspicuous burn, very few unburned crumbs and some gray, flaky ash remain. Cleaning is therefore just as pleasant as smoking.
Redolency:
The room note of Serengeti is positively influenced by the aroma. Of course, you should still be considerate of non-smokers.
Conclusion:
The light and dark brown mixed Serengeti, interspersed with fine Ready Rubbed, is fruity and sweet even when cold. In the smoke, however, the tobacco is not overly flavored in the sense that the subtle tobacco spice and the bread and nut flavors of Virginia and Burley would be masked. The manufacturer succeeds in composing a balance between a lasting aroma and a natural tobacco taste. Due to the rather simple preparation and the uncomplicated smoking process, the Serengeti is also suitable for beginners and can also be smoked casually. Fans of flavored tobaccos will definitely appreciate it.
