Manufacturer Description:
Rich Black Cavendishes, together with a generous amount of Sweet Cherry generates a room aroma second to none. With strength for the pipe-smoker and the aroma of cherries for the company, Samuel Gawith´s Black Cherry Cavendish is a must for lovers of aromatics.
Characterisation:
The Black Cavendish is a Mixture of medium to dark brown coulored, mediumwide and short cut Black Cavendishes with a clear brief cherry smell. The aroma displaced almost every tobacco odor without ever being obtrusive. The cut is very homogeneous. The moisture is clearly perceptible, but remains within limits, so that the tobacco can be filled immediately without any further preparation.
Plugging:
The Black Cavendish can be easily filled by flutter down into the tobacco chamber and slightly pressing down the layers. Due to the typical velvety-soft texture you can also turn it to loose balls in small portions, which can then be filled with a light pressing into the tobacco chamber. The last layer should be pressed carefully planned to ensure a uniform lighting.
Light up:
The Tobacco can be light up good and evenly with 1-2 flames. It tends to straighten slightly, but this can be quickly corrected by a little pressure with the tamper.
Smoking properties:
Due the medium width cut the tobacco glows very evenly, whereby a little attention to the temperature is neccessary. Smoked too hot the Black Cavendish tends to bite a bit on the tongue, what can be corrected by a moderate stroke rate rather quickly. Even when lighting the cherry flavor, both in taste and in the redolence is very dominant, while a slightly nutty flavor of Black Cavendish is recognizable too. The Black Cavendish developes in spite of the strong flavor only a little bit of condensate and the flavour remains almost constant until the end. In the last quarter the slightly bitter taste of Black Cavendish is a little more clearly. The remaining ash is dark gray.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Black Cavendish is strongly influenced by the flavour, wher cherry is clearly remarkable. The smell is very pleasant fruity-sweet, so that the tobacco should be welcome in any society.
Conclusion:
The Black Cavendish is a dark blend with a strong flavor, which is dominated by the intense smell of cherry. Also in taste and redolence the cherry is clearly remarkable. Plugging and handling of the tobacco are rather simple, whereby some attention to the temperature is neccessary. The aroma is almost very stable to the end and the tobacco develops only slightly condensate. For lovers of flavored blends the Black Cavendish is also recommended for beginners.
