Cohiba
Cohiba is the top brand among Habanos. It was created in 1966 personally for the Máximo Líder Fidel Castro. Its place of origin was a great secret for a long time, as no one was supposed to know where it came from. Essentially, for a long time, Cohiba was the unofficial house brand of the state leadership and practically unobtainable outside this circle. With one major exception: as a gift, which was reserved only for high-ranking state guests.

It was not until 1982 that the decision was made to release a limited contingent into the open market. By this time at the latest, the place of origin also became well known among aficionados of this world: the El Laguito factory in Havana. The former villa of a sugar baron is the cradle of this first post-revolutionary brand. It is located a good distance outside the city in the Cubanacán district, which is why its location could remain secret for so long. Here, the select of the select are blended into a Cohiba – the ne plus ultra among Habanos.

The Reserva and Gran Reserva lines from Habanos consist of classics from the portfolio, which are made from specially aged tobaccos. Now, the Cohiba Espléndidos as a Gran Reserva from tobaccos of the 2017 harvest follows as another absolute classic. The Cohiba Espléndidos format has been part of the brand's standard range since 1989 as a component of the Línea Clásica. With a length of 178 mm and a medium ring gauge of 47, the "Julieta No.2" format, known as the "Churchill," is one of the most elegant, classic cigars. The Cohiba Espléndidos Gran Reserva Cosecha 2017 are made from particularly carefully aged tobaccos from the 2017 harvest (in Spanish, "cosecha") and are thus undeniably among the most exclusive and extraordinary pleasures in the world of Habanos. It goes without saying that only the most experienced rollers in the manufactories are selected to roll these masterpieces from the best tobacco leaves. Of each Gran Reserva edition, only 5,000 individually numbered boxes of 15 cigars each are released worldwide. For the production of the Gran Reservas, only tobaccos aged for at least five years are used for the filler, binder, and wrapper, sourced from the best Vegas Finas de Prima from the Pinar del Río zone. For Habanos lovers and collectors, they are undoubtedly among the most sought-after rarities. To allow even more aficionados and aficionadas to enjoy these rare cigars, Habanos is now offering for the first time a presentation box with two of these luxurious cigars. They are crafted just as elaborately as the large boxes and are thus recommended as a gift for very special moments.
