Manufacturer Description:
Very soft and sweet, consuming refined Black Cavendish, prepared in traditional cut. Aromatic, ripe blueberries and a hint of vanilla give the tongue-friendly mix a full-bodied taste.
Characterisation:
The Blaubeere (which means blueberry), is according to the dark variety of tobacco used very dark brown, almost black, and cut as a wild cut in short and wide fibres of tobacco. The aroma lets pass no tobacco smell. The scent in the freshly opened tin is sweet and as the name suggests it smells like blueberries, albeit more like a bag of fruit gums with this aroma. If the tin is open for a longer time, the scent loses this something artificial touch and gives way to a more natural berry flavor. As with aromatics often, the tobacco is quite humid, even sticky and should be aired before smoking a good half hour or even longer.
Plugging:
The Blaubeere is like any loose mixture stuffed down loose and fixed becoming upward. But one should not be too vigorous and also ensure some space to the rim to leave, because the tobacco rises under the flame.
Light up:
Despite pre-drying the Blaubeere requires some attention when lighting. It may well need two flames, until a uniform glow is created and later the rising tobacco should be smoothened with the tamper to create a uniform bed of embers.
Smoking properties:
The Blaubeere has a dense smoke that tastes quite by juicy berries, but not artificial, as the scent might would suggest. The delicate sweetness paired very pleasant with a surprising bitter note, which acts as natural and earthy, that one inevitably thinks of wild collected blueberries that may not have reached maturity all covering sweetness, as we know from the jam jar, but because of that even taste better. This flavor reduces only towards the end of the filling and remains only gray ash with a few unburned tobacco crumbs and little condensate, so that the cleaning expenditure remains low.
Redolency:
The room touch of the Blaubeere is clearly sweet and few for tobacco, so it should not be bothersome in society.
Conclusion:
The blueberry is a dark brown Loose Cut, which smells strongly of blueberries and which is a bit damp. Pre-dried and ignited evenly with aid of the tamper the tobacco provides a juicy berry flavor. The sweetness is not as intense as the rather artificial aroma from the tin would suggest. Even tart notes are to be discovered and together with the stability of the flavor the Blaubeere becomes a tobacco which is among the plurality of provided with berry-sauced tobaccos, stands and will surely find its fans.
