Oriental Flake
The blend of Virginia and oriental leaves, all grown in Turkey, offers a fascinating aroma. Here, you experience the sweet scent of Virginia with a floral touch from the oriental leaves. This flake intensely evokes the flavors of fig and raisins—almost like a fruitcake. In the second half of the smoking experience, the taste of the oriental leaves unfolds with floral and spicy nuances. A harmonious interplay of aromas completes the enjoyment of this unique tobacco.
Characterisation:
The Oriental Flake is packaged in a small, black hinged lid container. Once the surrounding plastic band has been removed, the tobacco should be transferred to an airtight container for longer storage. In the tin the flakes are wrapped in golden cardboard. They are carefully stacked and precisely cut. The surface is a rich olive brown, streaked with darker veins and speckled with yellow. The Oriental Flake exudes a sweet, delicately spicy scent that is reminiscent of dark dried fruit. The contained oriental tobacco can hardly be guessed at. Although the flakes are crumbly, they can be easily bent and folded when dried for a short time.
Plugging:
The Oriental Flake is good for giving it folded into the pipe. Then you should choose a pipe that is not too small and you should also give the tobacco room to develop by not pressing too hard. Depending on your taste, the Oriental Flake can also be smoked grated as a ready rubbed or rolled into loose balls; the smoking behavior then varies a little.
Light up:
Once pre-dried, the Oriental Flake can be ignited quite easily. However, since the compressed tobacco rises, you have to press the surface lightly with the tamper. The second flame then creates an even glow.
Smoking properties:
The Oriental Flake shows in the smoke a varied spectrum of aromas that are surprising in an oriental tobacco. In a positive sense! In addition to the expected smoky spice of the Oriental, there are hints of nuts, wood and juicy rye bread. The latter suggest a finely balanced Virginia added. The burning is quiet and uncomplicated if you occasionally correct the slight rise of the compressed tobacco with the tamper. So you don't have to worry about stuttering or burning tongue. The remaining ash is very light and fine. A few unburned crumbs and hardly any condensation make cleaning less laborious.
Redolency:
Although the aroma of the tobacco is not overly burdensome, as is usual with oriental tobaccos, the room note of the Oriental Flake is not necessarily non-smoker friendly.
Conclusion:
The attractively packaged Oriental Flake is just as carefully cut and, as you would expect for this type of tobacco, dark in color. The cold scent is already sweet and delicately spicy. The smoke is also characterized by nutty and woody notes and a subtle fruity sweetness, which reveals the subtle aroma. Although you occasionally have to use the tamper and take your time in preparation, anyone who appreciates flakes also knows the care required. For lovers of this type of tobacco and oriental tobaccos, the Oriental Flake offers everything your heart desires.
