Manufacturer Description:
Esterval's Pipe House No. 1 is an exquisite flake characterized by a blend of bright Virginia, Burley and Oriental tobaccos.
Characterisation:
The Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 is packaged in a round tin. Inside are flakes in the classic format of around seven by four centimeters. The slices are not too thick and are accurately cut on both the surface and the sides. The uniform marbling is light, medium and dark brown and speckled with yellow gold inclusions. The Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 is reminiscent of a good brown bread with its fruity and delicately spicy scent. Virginia and Burley dominate here; the Oriental stays so discreetly in the background that it can hardly be sniffed out. The flakes are rather crumbly, but neither too moist nor dry, but ideal for plugging immediately.
Plugging:
Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 is a slightly brittle flake, but you can still bend and fold the slices in the traditional way to fit them into the pipe. Of course you can use the Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 also loosened up into a Ready Rubbed, torn into pieces or rolled into loose balls. You should just make sure to leave room in the pipe so that the compressed tobacco can unfold.
Light up:
Esterval's Pipe House No. 1 is one of the few flakes that are remarkably easy to achieve a lasting glow. One flame seems to be enough. To be on the safe side, you should smooth out the first embers with the tamper and light it again. Then the filling will burn evenly until the end.
Smoking properties:
The smoke from Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 is also lush. Smoky spice reveals the Oriental. You don't have to worry about being overwhelmed by it, as it's not the heavy kind. Above all, the Virginia it contains rounds off the taste. Its subtle roasted bread sweetness is reminiscent of the cold scent and combines with a mild nutty note that one would like to attribute to the Burley. This almost floral almond aroma adds a lightening freshness to the spice. While the burn is inconspicuous with calm smoking behavior, the tobaccos interact very harmoniously with each other, so that a relaxed and yet interesting smoking process develops. The remaining, almost white, fine ash again reveals the Oriental. The few unburned crumbs and hardly any condensation also make cleaning easy.
Redolency:
The room note of Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1, despite the Oriental it contains, is not particularly intrusive, even if it is natural. It is therefore advisable to be considerate of non-smoking company.
Conclusion:
The Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 is a flake marbled in all shades of brown. Its accurate cut and optimal moisture content make it easy for even beginners to fold the flake into the pipe using the traditional method and ignite it just as easily. You just shouldn't get too greedy when smoking. Then the Esterval’s Pipe House No. 1 - without being heavy or too strong - Oriental spice, the toasted bread sweetness of the Virginia and an unusually fresh almond note that comes from the Burley used. The combination results in a harmonious flavor profile that invites both lovers of flakes and smokers of natural blends to enjoy a comfortable pipe smoke.
