Characterisation:
Spirit of Scotland is packaged in a rectangular tin, which is also sealed with a plastic band. If you open the tin, you will see a cover paper with an engraving of the tobacco factory. Wrapped in wax paper reveals a wide, rather short cut. There are also some light brown fibers mixed in with the dark and black-brown fibers. The scent is sweet and reveals the vanilla aroma. The fibers pressed tightly into the tin retained some residual moisture. It is therefore advisable to let the Spirit of Scotland dry briefly before giving the tobacco into the pipe.
Plugging:
The short fibers can be filled into the pipe quite easily. If you start loose at the bottom and end with gentle pressure, you will get a good filling with the Spirit of Scotland.
Light up:
The light up is also easy with the Spirit of Scotland. After the first flame, carefully smooth the surface with the tamper before giving fire again to create a lasting glow.
Smoking properties:
The Spirit of Scotland is surprisingly spicy, yet pleasantly mild. In addition to a bitter fruity sweetness, you can taste the underlying vanilla. These flavors are used in such a way that they do not give the impression of overdose or even artificiality. The natural flavors of the base tobaccos emerge as toasted bread and dry wood. The latter in particular has an astringent effect, but is pleasantly soft on the tongue. Both the aroma and the extremely pleasant smoking behavior for a flavored mixture last until the end. At the end, the base tobaccos of the Spirit of Scotland appear a little spicier, but not intrusive. Soon only a little medium gray ash remains, which also makes cleaning very pleasant.
Redolency:
The vanilla aroma of the Spirit of Scotland is also evident in the room. Some non-smokers may perceive this as a pleasantly nostalgic pipe scent.
Conclusion:
The Spirit of Scotland is a rather dark mix of shorter cuts, which makes preparation easy. The vanilla aroma that can be perceived in the cold scent is pleasant but reserved in the room and also in the smoke. In the Spirit of Scotland, bitter-sweet fruit in particular is combined with wood and roasted notes, which can certainly bring to mind a Highland Scotch. This tobacco is suitable for anyone looking for a flavored blend without being overwhelmed by artificial flavors. If you're looking for a typical "vanilla tobacco", you won't find it in the Spirit of Scotland, but you won't necessarily be disappointed either. Just give it a try!
