Manufacturer Description:
A pleasantly soft and lovely tobacco with an appealing, fragrant aroma. This blend has been recompiled by increasing the proportion of light, naturally sweet Virginia tobaccos. Torben Dansk No. 9 has become even softer and tastier. The short, flat wide cut also ensures a particularly slow burn with cool, gentle smoke. This mixture is recommended for medium to large heads.
Characterisation:
The round tin, which is taller than it is wide, is sealed with a plastic lid and aluminum foil to tear open. So if you want to keep the No 9 Planter's Delight for a longer period of time, it is advisable to transfer the tobacco into an airtight container. The wide and short cut shows a lot of dark brown with a few light spots. A dark Ready Rubbed and light cube-cut cubes mix underneath. The rising fragrance is appetizingly reminiscent of a mild fruit punch. Because of the compressed tobaccos, the No 9 Planter's Delight should be pre-dried for a short time so that the overall humidity can adjust.
Plugging:
Despite the different components of the mixture, the No 9 Planter's Delight is relatively easy to pack. The only thing you shouldn't do is to push too hard, then you can even smoke the tobacco in a smaller pipe. A little pressure at the end is enough.
Light up:
The wide fibers of the No 9 Planter's Delight take on the flame immediately. If you let these go out, press down gently with the tamper and light up evenly again, you get a permanent ember.
Smoking properties:
The No 9 Planter's Delight is initially strikingly tart. Instead of the sweet fruit notes to be expected from the cold scent, the smoke comes up with an unusual range of spices. Lush smoke transports this experience. It is astringent, almost salty and piquantly smoky. Smoked gently, nutty aromas and nuances of juicy bread are also evident. Since the smoking process is absolutely uncomplicated, you can lean back and devote yourself to this variety of taste. Towards the end, the mildness gives way almost entirely to the tobacco spice. Since only some medium gray ash and hardly any condensate remain, cleaning was also uncomplicated.
Redolency:
The room note of the No 9 Planter's Delight is more natural than determined by an aroma, so one should be considerate with non-smoking company.
Conclusion:
The wide, short-cut No 9 Planter's Delight is mixed with Ready Rubbed and Cube Cuts, is - as the predominant dark color already suggests - a full-bodied tobacco. It is strong, tart and spicy, with salty but also nutty bread aromas that make smoking an experience. Something to savor that might be a little challenging for beginners, despite its inherent simplicity. Aficionados will be happy to treat themselves to the No 9 Planter's Delight during a relaxing time after a good meal.
