Manufacturer Description:
A Black Cavendish from different Burley and Virginia tobaccos, rounded off with a hint of Perique.
Characterisation:
The Maduro is a Ribbon Cut of rather short tobacco fibers which show a solid black-brown color. The tobacco looks a little wet and sticky, but this is nothing unusual in a flavored tobacco and recommends it for pre-drying. The scent, which is rising from the tin is sweet and alcoholic and so reminds of rum raisins, which is not surprising because of the rum as a flavour specified by the manufacturer. Among them is surprisingly a delicate enigmatic smoky scent that you would not expect in the tobaccos used.
Plugging:
The Maduro is plugged as usual for a loose mixture below looser and firmer becoming upwards. More is not to be considered, then the Maduro burns easygoing until the end.
Light up:
The Maduro can easily be ignited with a single flame in spite of its moisture, provided that care is taken to put the whole surface evenly on fire.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of Maduro is dense and creamy. But you should not be greedy and keep the tobacco rather cool, because like many flavored tobaccos the Maduro tends to be snappy if smoked hot. This attention the Maduro rewards with natural tobacco spice that blends pleasantly with the sweet rum flavor. This interacting of flavors lasts until the second third of the filling and makes us forget that the pinch Perique promised by the manufacturers hardly is to taste. With a little practise, you can smoke this tobacco by the way and every day, for which it is excellently suited, since neither its strength nor its flavors are overwhelming. What remains is a fine, very bright ashes that makes very little work during cleaning.
Redolency:
The room note of Maduro is sweet, while tobacco genuine, so it could be tolerated at least in smoking-friendly society.
Conclusion:
The Maduro is a black-brown, short-cut tobacco, which is very easy to fill and to ignite, but requires attention while smoking. If smoked cool the Maduro offers a creamy sweet and spicy at the same time vigorously smoke where the natural tobacco flavor is connected with the rum flavor. With a little practice, the Maduro is as extraordinary tobacco for each day, which also does not overpowers ambitious beginners.
